What is Craft Coffee?

We have one simple mission: To bring you new, exciting coffee experiences every month. Our Tasting Boxes allow you to sample three different super premium coffees from roasters around the country, with little commitment. Our coffee industry experts taste literally dozens of coffees and hand-select only their absolute favorites to include in your Tasting Box.

The coffee beans that you'll receive in your Tasting Box are not your typical grocery store varieties. These beans are painstakingly sourced and lovingly crafted into the perfect flavor profiles. Artisan hands and expert palates guide them into your cup.

At CraftCoffee.com, we believe in our roasters and the quality product that they deliver to you. We work closely with every roaster whose product we include in your Tasting Box. Some are tiny upstarts, fighting for a chance to change what coffee means to you. Some are award-wining micro-roasters who live on the vanguard of cuisine and culinary excellence. But each of them pours their heart and soul into their craft.

Who runs Craft Coffee?

Michael Horn founded CraftCoffee.com in 2010. Before Craft Coffee, Mike founded WhatIsFresh.com, which the New York Times has called "the best guide to what is available in which Greenmarkets." How much coffee do I receive in each tasting box?

You will receive a total of 12 ounces of super-premium coffee in each monthly tasting box. The box will include samples from three different roasters, hand-selected by our team of coffee industry professionals. You'll also receive tasting notes and other tips and suggestions each month.

When do the tasting boxes ship?

Our June box will ship on June 15. All future boxes will ship on the 3rd Monday of the month.

When is the cut-off day for ordering a particular month's tasting box?

Our boxes ship on the third Monday of each month. Cut-off dates to be included in any particular month's shipment are as follows:

  • July: Friday, July 8 (extended to July 10)
  • August: Friday, August 5
  • September: Friday, September 9
  • October: Friday, October 7
  • November: Friday, November 11
  • December: Friday, December 9

How fresh are the coffees that you include in the tasting box?

As fresh as can be! We coordinate closely with our roasters to ensure that our coffees are roasted at the last possible moment before shipping.

If I buy a six-month or twelve-month tasting box, do I pay each month or all at once?

For these two products, you pay the full purchase price at checkout. You will receive a tasting box each month for the period you select.

If I buy a monthly tasting box subscription, do I pay each month?

Yes, for the monthly tasting box subscription, you pay for the first month at the time of your purchase. After that, you pay for each subsequent box on the first of each month until you cancel your subscription. Billing on the first of the month will begin on June 1, 2011.

Can I cancel my monthly tasting box subscription?

Yes, you can cancel your monthly subscription at any time. Simply email us here and let us know that you would like to cancel cancel@craftcoffee.com. After cancelling, we will not charge you for any subsequent boxes, but you will receive a final tasting box if you already paid for that month.

Can I cancel my six-month or twelve-month tasting box before the subscription period ends?

No, you are not able to cancel the six-month and twelve-month packages. However, you can transfer your subscription to another person if you wish. If there's any need to change the recipient of your tasting box subscription, contact us and let us know: transfer@craftcoffee.com.

I live outside the United States. Can I subscribe to Craft Coffee?

What are your gift options?

We offer 3-month, 6-month and 12-month gift plans. Click here to view our gift options.

If I buy a gift, do I pay each month or all at once?

For a gift, you pay for the entire gift package at once during your checkout. Your gift recipient will receive a tasting box each month for the period you choose for them.

Can I cancel my gift purchase before the gift period ends?

No, gift purchases are final for the gift period you select. However, you can transfer a gift to another person. If there's any need to change the recipient of a gift, contact us and let us know: transfer@craftcoffee.com.

Do you send a card or an email to my gift recipient to tell them about the gift before they receive it?

Yes, within 48 hours after you purchase your gift, we will send an email to the gift recipient at the email address you provide during checkout. If you want the gift to be a surprise, enter your email address during checkout and you'll receive the gift email instead. You can then forward the email whenever you are ready.

What if I don't know which grind to choose for my gift recipient? Or, what if I pick the wrong one?

If you don't know what grind to select for your gift, we recommend that you choose whole bean. If your gift recipient wants a different grind, they can contact us here and change it for future tasting boxes: grind@craftcoffee.com.

Can I add a custom gift note with my gift?

Not yet, but let us know if that's something that you would like to do in the future. We're always open to suggestions at help@craftcoffee.com

Can I send a gift to someone outside of the United States?

We're working on it. Please email us at gifts@craftcoffee.com and let us know if you would like to do this.

What grind should I select for my tasting box?

At Craft Coffee, we always recommend that you buy whole bean coffee. Your coffee will be much fresher and taste much better if you grind it at home. However, if you're not ready to grind your own beans quite yet, then we offer a variety of grinds for almost any type of brew method.

Can I change the grind that I originally selected?

How does shipping work?

Our Tasting Box currently has a FREE shipping offer. If you select the free shipping option, we will ship your Tasting Box via a standard ground shipment method, either Fedex, UPS or USPS. Additionally, during checkout you may choose to pay for an expedited shipping method if you wish. We provide the following two expedited shipping options: Fedex 2 Day or Fedex Overnight. We work closely with our roasters to ensure that coffees for our Tasting Boxes are roasted fresh to order and shipped to us at the last possible moment required to prepare your Tasting Box. That means that you can be confident that you're always receiving a fresh product from Craft Coffee.

Can I use a fake email address when checking out?

No, please don't. We use your email address to send you your receipt, which you'll need for future tracking. Also if there is a shipping problem we need to be able to contact you. If you're worried about spam, we promise that you don't need to be. We won't sell your email or send you spam.
